I nearly blew up everything I'd made so far on the game, the sprite file corrupted and it refused to open, thankfully I had a backup from a while ago, but it has set me back some.

Just a quick update to let you know that neither I nor the game are dead. It is possible that, given time for testing the game will be ready to play in a few weeks.

Hooray, my exams are over, so I guess it's time to get to work on my game... yeah, gimmie 5 minutes and I'll get right on it. First though I wanted to talk about how incredibly silly the exam system is in general. Basically when you get your exam grade, all you can say is, 'yes I knew this much about topic x after revising for y weeks for it'. Do you remember ANY of the stuff from exams you took 5 years ago? I'd wager that you didn't. I mean look at Gordon brown, he probably took Government and Politics for A - Level; clearly he has forgotten everything he learnt in that subject. Oh snap. But hey, I can't think of an alternative for exams so maybe I should just stop bitching. Brain implants that act like hard drives? That'd be cool. If anyone is actually reading this, firstly, thanks :)
Secondly I think I owe you all an explanation, I did say that I would have a demo of my game ready *soon*, which has of course come and gone. Unfortunatley I haven't been able to do any work on the game at all for the last month and a bit due to exams, coursework and other mundane rubbish that I'd rather not do. But never fear, in a week and a half's time I will have 25 delicious free days in which to do whatever I please, so naturally I'm going to powerlevel my game up to near completion with intermittant showers of learning Japanese and watching anime :P

It will be finished soon! I promise, heres a background I worked on before I got bogged down with real life.

Slow development is slow

Heres another post for you internet people, if you are really there... Anyways, yeah, development has slowed down a bit at the moment since I've had a whole load of work to do for college and whatnot; but never fear, a demo will probably be available by mid April which you can all download and play till your eyes hurt if you really want.

One thing that really takes me a while when making these games is bloody walk cycles, they present a problem to me which seems completley rediculous, how can I not draw someone walking after doing it myself for many many years. Heres one I made earlier:

Now, thats probably the best one I've ever done, but after finally figuring how legs move properly I have the problem of how to make the arms move in tandem without looking ridiculous. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get it in the end, but for now I'll just keep hands in pockets or on swords ;)

On a more positive note, most of the scripting and dialog needed for the first 50% of the game is done, and it's all pretty much working exactly right. A cattle prod in the direction of my artistic skills and I should be pretty much ready to release a demo.

Update: I used to have a spare game here which you could email me for, but my hard drive imploded and the data was lost :( Nevermind.

So it's come to this... I've decided to start a blog; serious business. If you've found me via some form of shiny futuristic 'hyperlink' it's probably because you want to read my Dev Blog which I promise you will be permitted to once I decide to start writing it. I'm from a small, cold, tea-obsessed island and in my spare time I make Adventure Games; yay!
